Based in the Bay Area of California, MKLA is an artist and plant based lifestyle advocate with a large social media presence. Ranging from painting, writing and singing, she’s an artist constantly seeking different forms of self expression. Promoting self expression and self love is how she began amassing her social media following. She’s inspired many women of color to embrace their natural beauty by wearing her bigger than life curls like a crown.
However, what makes her most inspiring is her resolve and positive mind set after overcoming a serious auto immune disorder. This led to her to studying and sharing all of the medical benefits of living a plant based lifestyle.
Using her social media influence, she continues to work towards teaching and inspiring others to live a healthier, natural and positive life. Powerful, beautiful, moving with soul, and a constant light of inspiration; she is our first subject and muse in this series.

From Newark, New Jersey, Grizel “Chachi” Del Valle is a singer, dancer and actress of Puerto Rican descent. She’s travelled across the globe, gracing audiences with the folkloric dances of her ancestral roots. Further cementing her success as a performer, she became a symbol of hope when a photo of her draped in the Puerto Rican flag went viral after Hurricane Maria devastated the island. She has since been a part of the relief efforts, providing aid to those who were left with nothing. Her pride in where she’s from and how deeply rooted her cultural ties are is unwavering. Her spirit of honor and charity have touched the hearts of many, including ourselves.

Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Jasmine Mans is a poet and a fearless voice. For both women and men of color, her subtle yet powerful words, have struck a cord in inspiring them to be more than what’s expected of them. Speaking candidly from the perspective of a young woman from Brick City, her work is an open dialogue for what our roles in society are and why they shouldn’t have to be. Her poetry presents questions in the form of powerful statements and remains as undaunted as her brilliance and rise out of the city of bricks.

Amara La Negra is an international entertainer, entrepreneur, model, philanthropist and spokesperson. She is from The Dominican Republic and has been a representative for Afro-Latinas ever since her career started. Promoting beauty in self-love and confidence, she’s a breath of fresh air in our cultural landscape not used to breaking out of its conventional beauty standards. She has also written a children’s book about the beauty in self-love to empower and motivate them to never let life’s obstacles stand in their way. She has remained true to herself and her culture throughout her career and her uncompromising nature is her most beautiful trait.
